19/7/98 - OFF AIR - After an amazing four weeks of broadcasting and fund-raising events Silver FM went off air at midnight tonight. Updates on totals raised and any news on plans for next year will be posted here.

11/7/98 - THREE SILVER PARTY'S - Silver FM has announced THREE massive parties next week - Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Friday night will see a massive disco party in the school hall for the youngsters, Saturday night sees a 70s and 80s disco night at the same venue, and Sunday will have the Line Dancing Extravaganaza lasting from mid-day right through until midnight when the station goes off air.

11/7/98 - WATFORD SPRINGS OUTSIDE BROADCAST - Today Silver FM broadcast live from Watford Springs and the Watford Fields School Fete. We did live links from the fete between 12.30pm and 2pm with Luther Blissett as star guest, and did the whole show live presented by Michael Dean from Watford Springs between 2pm and 4pm. A massive success and thanks to The Great Thorpe Park for used of their O.B. Facilities

7/7/98 - PRESS RELEASE issued announcing Silver FM's "Party in the Pool!" Outside Broadcast live from Watford Springs on 11th July with The Great Thorpe Park O.B. Unit. Also broadcasting from the Watford Fields School Fete opposite the swimming pool. Click here to read the Press Release.

24/6/98 - STATION OPENED NOW ON AIR - At 1pm today the station was officially opened by stars from Sky TV's "DREAM TEAM". We're now broadcasting on 87.7FM for the next 26 days to South Hertfordshire. The opening was marked with a huge birthday cake celebrating 3 years of the pioneering school radio station. Stay tuned to the news page for the latest updates.

8/6/98 - Full Meeting at studios. Sky TV have generously donated a first class audio mixer from one of their studios to us - it is now in place in the studio and we reckon it will be the envy of most RSL's around the country. Everything is set for the launch on June 24th - celebrity opening the event still to be confirmed. The Sales team have done so well that all our costs are now covered, every penny from here on in goes to our good causes. The Outside Broadcast team is now up and running, planning numerous OB's including using the Thorpe Park Outside Broadcast van which Thorpe Park are very generously going to let us use.

19/5/98 - Emma who is currently managing the Advertising/Sales Department announced record advertising Sales for Silver FM based on the situation 4 weeks before we go on air in our previous years. Equipment currently owned by the now-legal Radio Caroline will be used to bring Silver FM to our listeners. A special communications system is being put together to allow high quality Outside Broadcasts to be used.

11/5/98 - PRESS RELEASE issued announcing the frequency that Silver FM will broadcast on this year. Click here to read the Press Release.

7/5/98 - Telephone Call received from Radio Authority. They have approved our broadcast license and issued us with the frequency of 87.7 FM. A press release will be issued at the beginning of next week. Operations now stepping up a gear to market the frequency to our potential advertisers and listeners.

5/5/98 - Full Meeting at studios. Still no news on the license which is still awaiting approval by the Radio Authority. Our advertisers base is growing daily, more and more people want to advertise on the station. Silver FM school quiz to be run by Joy again, James Anthony now offering one to one training to presenters. Regular practise sessions now occuring in studios - full programme schedule yet to be released. Next meeting 2 weeks time.

22/4/98 - Full Meeting at studios of organising team. New glossy brochure has been published (looks superb). Phone lines have been installed, computer network is running at speed. Work has started on construction of studio. Paul has been working very hard on implementing fader starts on the mixer, and upgrading CD players to cope with 24 hour broadcasts. Our wish list is growing, and more work will be carried out to get the items we need to run the station. Next meeting 2 weeks.

10/3/98 - General Silver FM staff meeting at studios 7pm. Licence application has been submitted, currently awaiting approval by Radio Authority. Studios will be in same set of rooms as previous years. Split into groups to discuss various jobs - presenters, advertising, technical etc.
