Silver FM - Party in the Pool - Watford Springs this Saturday

Silver FM 87.7FM, the unique school radio station run by the students and friends of Bushey Hall School - will be broadcasting live from Watford Springs this coming Saturday afternoon 2pm - 4pm (11th July) as part of a series of live Outside Broadcasts from around the South Herts area.

The Silver FM "PARTY IN THE POOL" is being held to raise money for the radio stations chosen good cause - the Children's Department at Watford General Hospital.

The fun-packed afternoon will be broadcast live from the Great Thorpe Park's £100,000 Outside Broadcast Unit Mobile Studio which will be parked up on the patio outside the front of Watford Springs beaming live signals from the pool side back to the Silver FM studios at Bushey Hall School.

Andy Hubble, Silver FM Press Officer said "We're promising loads of fun, games, music and competitions for any children that turn up to join in! Silver FM is pleased to be associated with Watford Springs, Watford's premiere swimming attraction. The whole team will be down at the pools all afternoon playing dedications and reading out messages, and giving away loads of prizes courtesy of Watford Springs".

The station will also be broadcasting from the Watford Fields School Fete which opens at 12.30pm in the fields adjoining Watford Springs, and which is being opened by Luther Blissett who will be a guest on the Silver FM show that afternoon.

Silver FM broadcasts on 87.7FM to South Herts using a Restricted Service License issued by the Radio Authority. The station went on air on 24th June for 26 days of live shows from the studios which are based at Bushey Hall School. The station is run to give the pupils of the school an insight into the world of broadcasting, from presenting programmes through to selling advertising airtime and administering accounts. The radio station is also raising money for the Children's Department at Watford General Hospital.

Since going on air, the station has raised over £5,000 towards its target of £10,000 - the profits going directly to the Watford General Hospital. Highlights over the next two weeks include the Silver FM Auction weekend on 18th and 19th of July, along with an extra-large 70s and 80s disco night at the school on 18th July - four discos set up in one venue, and the following day 19th July 12 hours of Line Dancing at the school noon 'til midnight when the station going off the air.
